WORKSHOPS– JEWELRY MAKING

Polymer clay jewelry workshops

Each of these workshop formats is built around the same principle: starting from a specific type of jewelry piece, I develop and teach a range of techniques.

My goal is to lead you to explore original and unconventional practices, so that you can develop your own creative universe and embrace new ways of designing jewelry.

Current proposed projects:

TRAVELLING · FRANCE & ABROAD

Contemporary brooch on wire

This project was born from admiring Alexander Calder's headboard exposed at the Guggenheim Foundation in Venice. I had an epiphany: instead of working from plates as I had done before, I decided to focus on working with wire.

Explore the balance, the harmony between the metal wire and the color of the polymer clay.
Starting from this idea of balance and equilibrium between metal and polymer clay, between the solid and the void, I found more inspiration from artists such as Ramon Puig Cuyàs and Lauren Pollaro.

What you will learn:

  • COMPOSITION & BALANCE: You will learn how to create a balanced design while taking into account the technical constraints involved in assembling the brooch.
  • DECORATIONS ON RAW CLAY: You will discover how to create subtle and colorful decorations on raw polymer clay using acrylic paint.
  • SURFACE PROTECTION: You will learn how to effectively protect these decorative elements to prevent scratches and ensure the durability of the jewelry.
  • ORGANIC SHAPE CUTTING: A simple and fast method will be provided for cutting plant or organic shapes without the use of cookie cutters.
  • TEXTURING METAL WIRE: You will experiment with different techniques for texturing metal wire, which are accessible, require few tools, and are suitable for contemporary jewelry.
  • METAL/POLYMER FIXATION BY RIVETING: You will learn how to assemble metal wire to polymer clay using an ingenious, reliable, and low-material technique.
  • INTEGRATING THE CLASP: You will know when and how to integrate the clasp on the back of the brooch based on the overall design.
  • BAKING OPTIMIZATION: Throughout the workshop, I will share my tips for reducing the manufacturing time of polymer clay jewelry while ensuring the quality and aesthetics of the final piece.

TRAVELLING · FRANCE & ABROAD

Mixed media on polymer clay

This workshop is an invitation to explore a free and intuitive approach to crafting based on mixed media on polymer clay.
The idea is not to follow a rigid recipe or reproduce a predetermined model, but rather to understand a way of building a piece while leaving plenty of room for experimentation, happy accidents, and your own personal sensibility.

My goal is not to provide you with a step-by-step guide to follow literally like a recipe.
Rather than offering a fixed formula or a single artistic direction, I prefer to share a wide range of creative approaches and ideas that you can explore further according to your own interests, helping you develop your own artistic universe.

As in my other workshops, I also aim to teach accessible, effective, and low-cost techniques, so that you can easily continue your experiments at home.

What you will learn:

  • Mixed Media Fund Construction: You will learn how to create different backgrounds on polymer clay using various techniques.
  • LAYERING: You will discover how to build a composition progressively by accumulating layers of paint, using textures and stencils.
  • CREATING STRONG VISUAL CONTRAST You will learn how to use the background to highlight a main floral or plant pattern, in order to create a balanced composition where the eye is naturally drawn to the central element.
  • INTUITIVE APPROACH TO CREATION: The internship will encourage you to develop a freer and more spontaneous approach to creation, allowing ample room for experimentation and creative accidents.
  • FABRICATION OF SIMPLE AND ECONOMICAL TOOLS: You will learn how to easily and for free, make an indispensable tool to bring out the highlighted element on backgrounds.
  • JEWELRY CREATION WITHOUT RELYING ON COMMERCIAL FINDINGS: I will help you design a setting that is consistent with your own design, while freeing you from commercial metal findings.
  • INTEGRATING A CLASP INTO THE DESIGN: If you wish, you will learn how to integrate a hidden clasp directly into the necklace design to enhance the overall aesthetic of the piece.
  • INTRODUCTION TO METALWORKING: You will discover how to simply work with brass or aluminum using very little tooling.
  • TEXTURING AND METAL FORMING: You will experiment with different ways to texture and form metal using accessible tools: hammer, anvil, file, and shears to enhance your polymer clay work.
