Abstract painting on polymer clay and polymer clay sculpting

DETAILS ABOUT "TO GO FURTHER" WORKSHOP

I have received a few questions about the workshop I’ll be teaching this year. It seems that mentioning the use of a vector drawing software program may have intimidated some of you.

So I’ll try to explain this workshop a little more clearly while keeping things concise.

First of all, put aside the whole idea of software and vector drawing. It is not part of the workshop itself. It is simply a bonus I offer participants afterwards in the form of a video tutorial, for those whose curiosity has been sparked and who would like to explore further. What I was really trying to do with this project was to open up new possibilities.

As for the two-day workshop itself, there will be plenty to explore:

Surface techniques inspired by abstract painting, washes, and abstract watercolor effects. We will play with colors, marks, layers, and transparencies. It is a very freeing process — and quite addictive!

Material effects. The earring bases provide an opportunity to create surfaces that resemble stone. Some pieces evoke the look of natural minerals or polished granite.

Making your own professional-quality earring findings. These handmade findings are sturdy enough to resist bending under everyday wear while remaining accessible to create.

A creative introduction to mold making, including the fabrication and use of a highly detailed liquid silicone mold. These molds are durable, reusable many times over, and can be used not only with polymer clay but also with other materials, including resin. This particular aspect of the workshop may not be immediately useful to everyone, but it will undoubtedly enrich your creative process and expand your personal library of techniques, ideas, and solutions.

And of course, this list is far from exhaustive. Many other tips, techniques, and little discoveries are shared throughout the workshop.

Above all, I wanted to reassure those who were concerned that this workshop might require prior knowledge of graphic design software or computer skills. It does not.

I am already looking forward to sharing all of these techniques with you during a future workshop. ✨
